It’s not just a line from my book. It’s a line from my life.
People often ask me if there is any of me in my characters, and while I like to let my imagination run wild with them (it’s the only time I seem to seek adventure) there is definitely a part of me in these books.
Over and over, God has reminded me that he is the one who put the dreams in my heart. He did that so I’ll ask him to help me make them come true.
This morning on my way home from the gym (doesn’t that make me sound athletic?), I was listening to Bethel Music and this song called “We Dance” came on. It’s not particularly new. I know all the words. But there’s this one lyric that jumped out at me today:
You steady me
Slow and sweet, we sway
Take the lead and I will follow
Finally ready now
To close my eyes and just believe
That You won’t lead me
Where You don’t go
He doesn’t lead us where he won’t go.
So why worry? We have no reason to worry. Our (my) anxiety is unfounded because He goes before me.
He’s in the business of making our dreams come true. Not all of them, maybe, but the ones that line up with his Word and his will for our lives. I’m resting on that today.
